Virgin Media launches mobile broadband contract service – 3GB for £15

virgin-media.jpgVirgin Media has bowled its way into the mobile broadband world today with the launch of a dongle-based contract service to provide up to 3GB of data per month. The price you will pay for said service is a rather familiar and not wonderfully competitive £15 every time the moon completes its cycle.

The good news is that if you sign up for the service for 18 months, the dongle does come free and you won’t have to pay for the first three at all if you go for their fully-integrated Virgin XL package that most likely involves their home broadband and possibly even six years of commitment to their TV service and the promise to have Richard Branson over for dinner once a fortnight.

According to Virgin, the 3GB is enough for 2,000 emails, 100 hours of web surfing, 200 music tracks and 100 two-minute videos and one download of Spore. (I added the last bit)
