Qik-Black-Berry.jpgQik, the popular mobile video-streaming service, has just launched a client for BlackBerry devices. Qik allows users to stream video from their mobile device to websites and blogs over a 3G, Wi-Fi or GPRS connection. As of sometime this morning, it now works on RIM devices running BlackBerry OS 4.5 and above, which includes the Pearl 8120, Pearl 8130, and the BlackBerry Bold. Clients for the BlackBerry Curve and Flip 8220 should be available soon.

Given that BlackBerry has a 44.5% share of the smartphone market in the US, and 11% share of the whole market, Qik’s potential userbase has rocketed. It already runs on Symbian and Windows Mobile smartphones. Qik also comes bundled with the new Nokia 5800 Xpress Music handset. It doesn’t work on the iPhone because the iPhone, hilariously, doesn’t support video on its camera.

Any of you use Qik? What do you use it for? I have difficulty working out what I’d actually do with it if I installed it – it seems like the kind of thing I’d try once and then never touch again. Educate me in the comments.
