Nintendo to release new DS bundles for Christmas

nintendo_ds_lite.jpgNintendo doesn’t often do too much with the DS. Since the Lite was released there hasn’t been anything new except for the odd new colour here and there, so it’s nice to hear that the big N hasn’t forgotten its little console with a zillion rubbish games.

The first deal that the gaming giant are offering will get you a black or a white DS with a copy of Brain Training, or a red DS with a copy of Big Brain Academy. That’s £120. There’s also an ever-so-slightly-sexist pink bundle that comes with Nintendogs: Labrador & Friends, and a blue one with Cooking Guide: Can’t Decide What to Eat? Those latter two deals are £130.

Those are actually pretty decent deals for the console. I got a DS many moons ago, and although I go through phases with it, it’s currently getting almost daily usage on my commute. That’s thanks to the purchase of a homebrew card and being able to resurrect a bunch of old Lucasarts games like Day of the Tentacle and Monkey Island via ScummVM.

If you can’t wait till Christmas, these deals will be available from October. I’d advise buying early – by the time Christmas rolls around, there probably won’t be many left.
