Writing about JBL modular speakers is easy if you've got the right angle to take

You’d have thought that designing speakers was pretty straightforward – as long as it blurts out noises, you’ve pretty much done your job. I guess it is the boredom that comes coupled with this simple design brief that has led to this unusual design from JBL.

This is apparently a “modular speaker system” that you can mount in the corners of a room, or join up to make the weird speakers you see pictured. One of the selling points is that they reduce the need for mounting brackets on the wall. More visually pleasing? Yes, but it isn’t a financial benefit too, as they’ll set you back around £110 each – which is why I’m sticking to whistling if I want musical entertainment.
