Google Suggest seems to have been rolled out to the UK now (I'm getting it, anyway) and we had a comment on our post announcing it asking how you turn it off. I did a little bit of digging, and it turns out it's relatively easy, so I thought I'd share it for those of you who aren't so keen on being pre-empted on your searches.
All you have to do is use this link to search from. That'll take you to a version of the homepage which doesn't have any of the drop-down annoyance. Easy.
What do you think of Google Suggest? Is it useful to you? Or plain irritating? Let us know in the comments.
UPDATE: Noyb in the comments points out that you can click on the "preferences" link to the right of the search box, scroll down to "Query Suggestions" and then click "Do not provide query suggestions in the search box". Much easier, but you'll need to be logged in or have cookies enabled or stuff along those lines.
How do I disable Google Suggest? (note - the answer is in the comments, not the main article)
