Sony drops the price of the 80GB Playstation 3…in the US

PS3-front.jpgIsn’t E3 fun? Wish I was there because then I’d hear announcements like this one from Sony that they’re dropping the price of the 80GB PS3 down to just $400 in the US. On the other hand, it’s probably a good thing else the whole room would see me crying as I realise that this may have no bearing on the UK market at all.

The downside of the upgrade is that the 80GB model will have “the same functionality as the 40GB version” which unfortunately means no PS2 games. Still, what are emulators for?

Naturally, the move comes in response to the new 60GB Xbox 360 announcement and price cuts on the smaller models. Rock Band/Guitar Hero, Xbox 360/PS3 – it’s all rather exciting, particularly if you’re in the market with money to spend.
