lenovo_thinpad_x200.jpgNot content with the thinness of its ThinkPad X300, Lenovo has announced the ThinkPad X200, weighing in at 1.34kgs when fitted with a four-cell battery, and offering 12.1-inch display, 64GB solid state storage or 320GB hard drive, Intel Core 2 Duo chips running at between 2.26GHz and 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, Wi-Fi and mobile broadband options.

In fact, the X200 is slightly chunkier than the X300, by a whopping 1.8mm, and has the option of an ultra-thin Blu-ray optical drive. In future, Lenovo will also offer UWB and WiMax connectivity plus GPS.

Compared to the MacBook Air — as so many thin notebooks currently are — it measures 29.5 x 21 x 2.07 cms compared to the MBA’s 32.5 x 22.7 x (0.4-1.94) cms (trust the Mac to be curvy). Of course, the MBA has a 13.3-inch display, which gives it a bigger footprint.

The X200 will be available in the US from next month, starting at $1,199. No word of a UK launch at present.
