They’re all at it! First Sony Ericsson announces the 8.1-megapixel C905. Then Motorola chances it with the “Alexanda” at just 0.1-megapixel less. Even LG look to have bandwagoned with the rumoured KC9010. Now Samsung is chucking its love spuds onto the barbecue with evidence of their very own 8-megapixel mobile monster, the Samsung i8510.

It’s all talk at the moment, aside the clues from the “leaked” images, but word is that its metal case measures 106mm x 53mm x 16mm, it’s both Wi-Fi and HSDPA 3G enabled and that the 2.8″ display resolves at 240 x 320.

There are also noises of a 3D chip for gaming and some DivX features. Rather a lot of info for a leak, don’t you think?

The remarkably clear and informative images also show that the camera has auto focus, a xenon flash and will snap at a rate of 120 f/s but, for me, it’s the fact that Samsung has finally moved the lens further to the middle of the camera that gets me excited. At last no more holiday snaps of my my thumb and the Eiffel Tower, my thumb and an the Vatican – you get the picture? I didn’t.
