Rumour: O2 stores 7am opening for iPhone 3G launch, pre-reg from 1st July

3g_iphone.jpgWith the iPhone 3G’s launch now just over two weeks away, a member of O2’s retail staff has apparently spilled the beans on the company’s launch plans.

Unlike Apple’s previous product launches in the UK, the iPhone 3G could be available from 7am, with O2 stores opening a couple of hours earlier to help get as many customers kitted out as possible.

Striving for a “successful and painless launch”, O2 may also allow customers to sign up for a contract in advance, thus reducing the amount of time it takes to pick up an iPhone on launch day.

The Pay-As-You-Go iPhone 3G is rumoured to cost £370 for the 8GB model and £470 for the 16GB model, though there’s no official word from O2 on contract-free deals yet.
