The leaf-strokers and mushroom-worriers at Greenpeace have released another of their NAME AND SHAME press releases, this time focussing on the top three video game consoles.
Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 are all RAMMED with DEADLY CHEMICALS that are POISONOUS and BAD FOR YOU, according to the report, which points out that safe alternatives are available.
Xbox 360 seems to come off worse - it contains a "phthalate" (a chemical used to make plastics) called DiNP which is already banned from being used in toys for kids in the EU. It's only banned from toys that could possibly fit in a child's mouth, though, so unless you routinely suckle on your Xbox 360 there's no need to be overly concerned.
PS3 and Wii are both also ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS, coming packed with DEADLY bromine....
"Whether game consoles are classified as toys or not, they can still contain hazardous chemicals and materials that could harm humans. The technology is available for the manufacturers to design out toxics and produce greener game consoles now," said Dr. Kevin Brigden from Greenpeace's Science Unit.
Forget GTA IV ruining our minds - think of the damage today's games machines will do when they all hit landfill sites in 10 years time. Or just forget about it and go back to GTA. Ten years is ages away. The scientists will have solved every problem in the world by then, and we'll be living on the Martian Colonies as Earth rots away.
