msi_wind_new.jpgWe mentioned this Eee contender some time back, but the MSI Wind notebook has got official – and an official US launch via an interview with Laptop Mag.

Worldwide, there will be both 8.9-inch an 10-inch models, both atom-based, but with a choice of XP and Linux. The US market is just getting the 10-inch model from June 3rd, offered with 1.6GHz Atom, 512MB of RAM, 80GB hard drive, and a 3-cell battery rated at 2.5 hours of use for $399 (around £200).

An XP edition will come in at $549 (around £275) with 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth, and a larger 6-cell battery good for 5.5 hours. If those prices translate to the UK market, we’ll all be happy.
