ConfigureMyPhone: mobile internet, MMS and e-mail made easy for you

configure-my-phone.jpgWeb services for your mobile phone are springing up left, right and centre at the moment and a pretty good thing too.

As our little handheld darlings become more and more complicated and get closer to being our most important contact with the world wide web, we need help to get them kick-started all the more.

Obviously frustrated by previous troubles getting browsers, MMS and e-mail to work from mobile phones, a company by the name of ConfigureMyPhone has arrived with a promise to take care of it all for you for the cost of £1 plus your standard SMS rate.

Naturally, it's a one-off cost after which your phone will no longer bleep at you with a "server not found" message assuming you've figured out how to navigate your mobile menus in the first place.

It's quite an interesting market that the company are after. It's the kind of service ideal for non-tech savvy people who could get a lot more from their handsets if only it wasn't so difficult, but I'm not sure these people are clued up enough on the web to find or use ConfigureMyPhone. It's by no means a complicated web site but perhaps a little too much effort for many.

On the other hand, some of the people who would use the service probably know enough about tech to sort their handsets out themselves, which leaves only the perennially lazy, such as myself. Fortunately there are many of us and I fully expect to be handing all the difficult work over to ConfigureMyPhone in the near future.

The service is only available in the UK but will be rolled out across France, Spain and the US shortly.
