Sony intros new HDD DVD recorders, a BRAVIA TV's "ideal partner"
Sony has introduced a new range of recorders featuring hard drives and DVD writers. The RDR-HXD1095 is the flagship model, boasting a 500GB drive, analogue and digital TV tuners, and BRAVIA Sync which allows it to be controlled from the same remote control as a Sony BRAVIA TV.
As you’d expect from such a unit, there’s full PVR functionality, the ability to burn programmes to DVD, capacity for up to 1,420 hours of standard definition TV on the hard drive, and upscaling to 1080p.
Additionally, there’s a HDD camcorder connection allowing direct digital dubbing from any of Sony’s standard definition Handycam HDD camcorders, plus X-Pict Story which makes it easy to create a slideshow of images stored on the hard disc.
Even if you’ve already got a Sky HD box for recording high definition programmes, or one of the PVRs from Sky / Virgin / BT, the massive hard drive and DVD functions on this unit may still be worth considering. After all, you can never have too many boxes under your TV, can you?
