rock-pegasus-210-ultraportable.jpgThe laptop world’s a funny old place. You can buy a top-spec machine in an ugly old case for £299, or you could have a Vaio or MacBook Air with the same specs for £1500. How does that make sense?

Aggressively attacking the vacant mid-ground is this – the new Pegasus 210 from power-maker Rock. It features a 12″ screen, classy magnesium alloy body and what they reckon will be up to eight hours of battery life – so long as you’re not doing anything too demanding with everything turned to MAX.

Optional 3G HSDPA support gives you train/email options, and it’s backed by Vista Business or good old XP with an 80GB hard drive for your “files.” The relatively humble 1GB of RAM might make running Vista a bit of a chore, mind. The Pegasus 210 starts at a rather decent £799 from Rock.
