We haven't seen the CG9 in the UK as yet, but Sanyo has launched yet another Xacti in Japan - the DMX-CA8 Waterproof.
As well as resisting the elements (you can stay underwater for up to one hour), the CA8 packs an 8MP CMOS sensor, a 'Face Chaser' function for better people shots (even underwater), 5x optical zoom - but there's no HD here.
It should be available around the world from 'mid-May' - we'll keep you posted.
