Microsoft has a lot to celebrate at the moment: while it was looking like Sony had gained the upper hand in the early part of the year, beating back HD DVD and such, Microsoft countered with a punishing price slash - a move that reportedly boosted sales by 40%.
Happy to share the love, Microsoft is going to break in its newest customers (and those older customers who have been a bit cheap skatey) with a special movie deal for the Easter weekend. From midnight on Good Friday 21 March until the same time Easter Saturday, you'll be able to rent Transformers, Swordfish, Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix, 1408 and Naked Gun 2 & 1/2: The Smell of Fear all for a measly 100 Microsoft points apiece. That's more than 75% off in some cases, and it includes the HD versions.
Of course, if you thought that the Xbox 360 Arcade version was a good deal now that it's cheaper than a Wii, you'll be feeling like a bit of tit. You'll need to fork out an extra £70 for a hard drive if you want to enjoy this offer. Could be worse though - you could have blown £30 on the Transformers HD DVD. How silly would you feel then eh?
