Guess what, everyone? MySpace is still going!
It's also STILL signing deals to fill its occasionally working and poorly cobbled together pages with new kinds of youth-oriented content - this week teaming up with MTV.
The MySpace/MTV deal will result in a show called "The MySpace Chart" appearing on MTV2 in the UK, with videos on it chosen by readers via the show's web site and MySpace page. That's what people call "user interaction" and it is, apparently, the future. Although in this case it'll just end up in a load of Goths voting for My Chemical Romance videos, with the odd fashionable unsigned act getting on telly via aggressive MySpace campaigning.
The show premieres on MTV2 on Sunday March 16. Which, sadly, means it'll clash with some of the vastly enjoyable afternoon repeats of Columbo on the Hallmark Channel and Movies 24, so I won't be watching.
You kids enjoy your music, though. I'm happy seeing who this week's special guest star is. Hopefully it'll be George Hamilton or Patrick McGoohan again.
