US Navy boasting about how hard its new railgun is

The US Navy has been bragging about its military might on the internet, releasing photos and videos of its magnetism-powered new railgun to the masses. It’s the sort of thing you expect of Middle-Eastern countries or North Korea, not the USA. What next? Parades of nukes down Fifth Avenue?

The US Navy boffins are so pleased with themselves and their awesome new way of keeping the world in check, they’ve released a few videos of their railgun being tested. And as with everything ever recorded, they’ve ended up on YouTube. Here’s one:

This prototype generates 10 megajoules of energy, powering out its projectiles at 5,600mph. The finished thing will have six times that power. Osama Bin Laden had better redouble his hiding efforts, else his beard will be spread over several square miles.

  • I’m so happy they finally caught Osama, what a shame they had to kill him, we could have had some great photos of him in his underpants like with Sadam
