Olympus Mju 1030SW – takes all you can throw at it

Guessing this is a follow-up of sorts to the Mju 1000, with the Mju 1030SW promising to take all bumps and knocks from everyday use – and more.

Technical details are scarce, although we do know it packs a 10 megapixel CCD and as it’s a compact in 2008, there’s likely to be the usual face detection, anti-shake, anti-blur and auto settings. But that’s not really the selling point here, the solidity of the case is. Apparently it can be dropped from a height of 2m max and can support a pressure of 100kg on its body. And if you’re near the pool, it can also be dropped into 10m max of water without suffering any damage.

Japanese launch only right now, but it might be here in the UK by the time your summer holidays come around.
