Great news for the N81 handset holders! Nokia's just let the First Access N-Gage application cat out of the bag, which you can now download from their website.
It's understandable if you need a refresher on just what the app does, as it's been coming for quite some time, since the demise of the actual N-Gage handset. On the site, there's three game trials available for download, with Space Impact: Kappa Base, System Rush: Evolution and Hooked On: Creatures of the Deep being the current time-wasters.
Not only can you trial these demos, but buy full N-Gage games as well, although as the users are warned, "N-Gage Player Names (created on device), N-Gage Points, and N-Gage Game Ranking will only be valid for the duration of First Access. Once First Access ends, the N-Gage databases will be reset," meaning you won't be able to play the fishing game Hooked On for years like you'd originally been hoping for. Yes, I know all about your fishing fetish, don't try and hide it.
It does sound a little complicated to set up at first however, as you can't actually download the 6.15MB app on your handset by accessing the site. Instead, connect a USB cable to the handset and your PC, then disconnect again, install the app and start it on the handset, then reconnect the cable again and you're now ready to transfer the games over.
It's enough to make you reconsider the DS, really...
