Ear damaged man seeks similar Microsoft Zune afflicted people, no GSOH required
This is rather shocking, I never thought I’d be writing these words, but unfortunately the time has come for me to spell out on the keyboard uh-oh-someone-is-suing-Microsoft-for-receiving- Zune-related-ear-damage.
I can barely look at those words 🙁
Joel Geddis was a Zune fan, and bought one of the first generation models. However, in November 2006, he “received an electric shock through the earbuds of my Microsoft Zune. Simultaneously, the Zune emitted a very loud noise through the earbuds and the device began to reset…Since the incident, I’ve suffered blood and fluid leakage from my ear canal, a temporary threshold shift, and incessant ringing and discomfort”.
In October last year, he apparently launched a personal injury lawsuit against Microsoft, with his lawyer setting up a website seeking other Zune users who were similarly afflicted.

I can relate. My zune resets every time I get a static shock and occasionally the crack is rather loud through the headphones. As for injuries, none to date.
By the way, the reseting is awesome when it occurs in the middle of a book. Sweet design.
