Is Dell to release a phone using the Android platform?

Dell may be about to enter the mobile phone market – and with a handset using the Android platform.

Speculation claims it will team up with Google to release a handset using the Google-backed software, with an announcement possibly as soon as next month’s 3GSM in Barcelona, although this has been denied by Google insiders, claims Marketing Week. It could be risky strategy – the Linux-based platform is still fairly new, with early adopters (in terms of developing) claiming it to be ‘buggy’ and ‘poorly documented’.

More will no doubt become clearer in the coming weeks.
