Does Joost need a boost?

joost-save.jpgWe’ve written a lot about Joost in the past year, but not so much recently. There’s plenty of speculation online about how the Telly 2.0 company is doing though, following the recent departure of its CTO.

NewTeeVee has an interesting post titled ‘Five Ways to Save Joost’, in which it suggests several things Joost can do to improve its performance. Perhaps the most important among them is ‘Build a web version’, which increasingly looks like advice that can be given to companies in any new area (Second Life, take note).

Of the blog’s other suggestions, putting Joost on the Wii sounds good – but why not PS3 and Xbox 360 too? – while integrating the major studios’ Hulu service would also be sensible. I’m not so sure about turning Joost into a video podcasting client though, while a Firefox plug-in wouldn’t have significant effect on Joost’s fortunes.

What do you think?

  • Admittedly I haven’t used Joost for at least six months – I gave up because there was simply no good content on there, and I found other sites such as Joox were much more fun, albeit probably illegal.

Getting Hulu on side would be a massive feather to its cap – I can’t wait for Hulu to launch!
