Apologies for the absolute onslaught of cameras today – it appears both Sony and Canon had a slight problem with announcing cameras on the same day! Oh, to be a fly on the wall in those offices…

Canon’s latest in the Digital IXUS range is the 8-megapixel Digital Ixus 80 IS model. Aimed at the fairer sex, with four female-friendly colours, it combines Motion Detection Technology alongside the usual 3x optical zoom (with optical Image Stabilizer), Face Detection software, Auto Red-Eye Correction, a DIGIC III image processor and a 2.5″ LCD screen.

With 18 shooting modes, and a few movie options including VGA 30fps, Long Play and Time Lapse, it could be seen as quite well-priced, for only £219 when released in March.
