They're just rubbing it in. America has had the Zune for ages. Then they all got Zune 2 a while back. Now they have GOLD Zune 2s while we're still waiting for any Euro Zunes at all.
What next for those lucky Americans? Platinum Zunes with 3TB of storage and 32" screens? Honestly, we'd be happy with just a 128MB Zune that only supports ATRAC files and has a battery that dies after 25 minutes.
At least the custom gold Zune 2 is available in rather limited quantities - Microsoft's co-maker Goods is only knocking out ten 8GB flash models and ten 80GB regular ones. We could make some sort of joke here about that doubling the Zune userbase, but have no statistical data to back up such a wild claim so won't bother.
The gold models go on sales in Goods' Seattle store next weekend. You almost certainly won't be ever having or seeing one.
