paul-mccartney-downloads.jpgJohn Lennon may be on iTunes, but The Beatles' back catalogue? Err...

It's not just iTunes which hasn't received the pleasure of having The White Album and Abbey Road in its selection, it's every single legal download site - until now. Thanks to Paul McCartney, things look set to change, with him commenting to Billboard.biz "it's all happening soon. Most of us are all sort of ready. The whole thing is primed, ready to go...it shouldn't be too long. It's down to fine-tuning, but I'm pretty sure it'll be happening next year, 2008."

This comes after years of legal wrangling with iTunes and other download programs, with plenty of Beatles fans throthing at the mouth over the many rumours we've heard. With McCartney himself confirming the rumours this time, however, it looks fairly certain we'll be able to back up our records and CDs with (hopefully) some DRM-free tracks.
