Nokia launches N82 handset – an updated N95 if you like

Nokia has another ‘multimedia computer’ cunningly disguised as a mobile phone on the market – the N82 – which is being pitched as the successor to the well-received N95.

It keeps the 5MP camera, Carl Zeiss optics and DVD-like video capture, but adds fast camera activation, a dedicated autofocus assist lamp, one-button photo uploading and fast reloading between shots. It also keeps the GPS, with pre-installed Nokia Maps and the ability to send maps and routes to friends by MMS.

Other features include a 2GB microSD card for storage, Wi-Fi connectivity, an improved 3D menu, an orientation sensor that rotates the user interface automatically between horizontal and portrait mode and support for the Ovi family of Nokia internet services.

So nothing obvious in terms of headline-grabbing new features, but if you fancied an N95, but never got round to buying one, might be worth a look. It’s available now, see your network retailer for pricing.
