Recycling gadgets is going to become a high-profile issue in the coming years, since we’re not doing it enough. A team of Japanese engineers at Hokuto System have a new spin on the idea, turning parts from old mobile phones into PCs on business card-sized circuit boards.

The new device is called DVIEW, and is going on sale in Japan imminently, complete with a 2.2-inch LCD screen, an 81MHz ARM CPU, and a 16-bit stereo soundcard.

It’s not being sold directly to consumers, but instead to shops to use DVIEWs as self-contained point-of-sale displays. However, if they can get Football Manager 2008 running on one of those things, I’ll have 12.
