Does the world need a round GPS system? Well, according to Blaupunkt, we do – the TravelPilot Lucca 3.5 Edition to be precise.

The circular design doesn’t seem to offer anything extra, with the possible exception of making it slightly quirky – the specification is pretty standard. That includes an anti-glare, high-contrast 3.5-inch TFT touch screen display in 4:3 format, Centrality Atlas III Dual Core 400 MHz processor, mapping for UK/ Ireland and major roads of Europe pre-installed, detailed maps of 21 Western European counties on a separate DVD, SD/SDHC/MMC card reader, theft-protection via PIN code, integrated TMC receiver, display of speed limits with visual and acoustic speed limit warnings and ‘error-tolerant’ input of city names.

Heading for UK stores in the coming weeks, price to be confirmed.
