Kubricks and vinyl toys’ popularity continue to soar (and not just amongst geeks), with these Daft Punk Bearbricks – perfect proof of just how mainstream the once-cult toy collecting fad has become. It doesn’t mean I want them any less, of course!

Fans should be aware of why the French electronica duo wear helmets – as shown on the Bearbricks pictured – but if not, Thomas Bangalter from the dance act explains it quite well here. “We did not choose to become robots. There was an accident in our studio. We were working on our sampler, and at exactly 9:09 a.m. on September 9, 1999, it exploded. When we regained consciousness, we discovered that we had become robots.”

Designed to celebrate the launch of their ALIVE 2000 tour CD, they’re a limited edition run of just 3,000, which will be up for grabs on December 5th.
