Whoever does BlackBerry's PR in the States should pat themselves on the back for creating the best publicity stunt in the history of publicity stunts.

Not that anyone will purchase what they're offering, mind, but just putting the offer out there for consumers has fed the big, hungry PR machine. In order to promote the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition Smartphone, RIM and Sprint are advertising the "first $10.5 million cell phone - an exciting limited-time offer for billionaires". The actual price of the phone is $199.99, but for $10,499,800 for the private island, that brings the total amount to ten and a half million coins.

Still, I guess the free private island beats a crummy Bluetooth headset anyday.
