Alright, I know Scotty doesn't have Spock ears, but the temptation to Spockify Simon Pegg is far too overwhelming to actually be accuratehere. Sorry fanboys!
Any self-respecting Trekkie or Simon Pegg fan (they go hand in hand, surely?) would've heard late last week that Britain's favourite ginger-ninja has been given the role of Scotty in the next Star Trek film. Now, I'm sure his Star Trek knowledge is impeccable, but to help him (and us) get in the mood for the 11th Trekkie film, here's five of the best Star Trek gadgets money can buy...

1.) Star Trek 40th Anniversary Phaser - produced for their anniversary last year, the phaser has full lights and sound, and does everything the original could, except, err, fire. ThinkGeek are your men, and can sell you one for $29.99.
2.) Star Trek chandelier - it won't exactly look at home in your Kensington penthouse, but I'm sure someone would find a worthy place to hang this light fixture. Sorry, 'chandelier'. $180.
3.) Star Trek voice-activated light dimmer - able to respond to commands such as 'computer, low' and 'computer, off', this $40 dimmer features the voice of Majel Roddenberry for extra authenticity.
4.) Star Trek Bluetooth communicator - it's probably not available anymore, as it went on sale on eBay back in 2004, but I bet Pegg could track one down using his uber-geek skillz. The Communicator can be used as a hands-free device, using Bluetooth to connect to your mobile, cementing your reputation as geek overlord for life.

5.) Star Trek PC mod - does Simon Pegg have time to mod a PC case to look like a warp core from the NX-01 Enterprise's engine room? Hardly, but he'd definitely know the right kind of people who could do it for him. Like, err, Nick Frost. There's a how-to guide posted here if you can coerce Nick into doing it for you, Simon.
