Bob Dylan must be taking cues from Barack Obama, and is taking his advertising into the web 2.0 world. Designed to drum up interest in his greatest hits album (like he needs to advertise, the album will sell itself!), he’s delved into the viral video format. On his website you can input your own personal message onto the cards he holds up in the classic Subterranean Homesick Blues music video, and send it on to friends via email, who can then view your equally Dylanesque poetry.
As you can see, I’ve had a play around with the video, and in case the screen-grabs are too small, my video read “Tech Digest is in ur Dylan videos steelin’ all his profound political statements, wheeee!”
Unfortunately you can only send the video on to friends to view for now, fingers crossed someone at the Dylan-camp allows the videos to be embedded into blogs soon enough. Obviously you can expect to see all my Tech Digest posts written on 10 cards hidden in Dylan songs from then on…
