If you're chomping at the bit to get hold of a Pleo dino-bot, prepare to howl in anguish. Maker Ugobe has confirmed that the Pleo won't be going on sale in October as planned, due to technical snaggles with its battery.
To be specific, when charging, Pleo's battery heats up too fast, which cuts off charging after 45 minutes, leaving the little fella short on juice (he's supposed to charge for up to four hours). Hey, maybe this is what saw off the real dinosaurs too. Maybe.
Anyway, Ugobe is having to sort a separate charging dock for the robot, so has delayed Pleo's launch until the end of November, when it'll cost £349 in the US (around £170). Here in the UK, Amazon is doing pre-orders for £249.99 with a claimed shipping date of 28th November.
