iPod Touch won't allow direct music downloads from web pages

ipod-touch-itunes-wi-fi.jpgiPod Touch will do many new things, including allowing the purchase of songs from iTunes via its Wi-Fi connection, it won't allow songs from any other web page to be downloaded or stored in iTunes, necessitating the "old fashioned" method of using a PC to download the file, import into iTunes, and sync with the iPod.

It's not clear whether this is a technical issue, or one of copyright and revenue protection — I would suspect the latter — but it's probably not a huge inconvenience.

Apple confirmed these details with The Listening Post, adding (when quizzed) that there were no announced plans for streaming radio, though it remains a possibility and would be trés cool.
