Can I have a Sony Ericsson mobile phone mast in my back yard, please?

in-my-backyard.jpgYour neighbours will be sick with envy when Sony Ericsson sticks one of its new, prettier mobile masts right in the middle of your garden – they’re beautiful.

The sexy iMast – actually called a Tower Tube – is Sony Ericsson’s attempt to sex-up the often criticised mobile phone mast industry, by getting fancy architects to make them pretty. Basically, they’ve made them white and are boasting about them being more energy efficient than the boring old ones to get the environmentalists and local parent/teacher associations on side.

“It can be regarded as a feature of any landscape” gushes Sony Ericsson, clearly pleased of its modern approach to blasting local communities with high-power microwaves.

  • This is part of an ongoing PR campaign to encourage people to believe that appearance is the only problem with mobile phone masts. Anyone who has looked at the research knows that it is the damage to people’s health that is the issue with masts – not what they look like! As cleverly subtle as it is, environmentalists and local parent/teacher associations are not about to be fooled by this marketing campaign.
