Mac site LoopRumors is claiming that Apple's next update to its Apple TV device will include direct integration with the iTunes Store, allowing them to buy songs and rent movies from their sofa, without needing to use a computer.
It's a simple enough feature (presumably the downloaded files would still be stored on the user's computer), and logical. It also fits in with Apple's strategy of broadening the number of devices capable of accessing the iTunes Store, such as its introduction of a Wi-Fi application for iPod Touch and iPhone.
Will this herald a new marketing push for Apple TV? It seems to have been low-profile in recent months, buried beneath the iPhone hoo-ha. Yet it's got the potential to be a super-important product for Apple, as more people get into digital media in a big way.
