Sony offers mobile broadband with VAIO SZ6-Series and TZ20-Series notebooks

Sony is offering a little something extra with its newly-launched VAIO SZ6-Series and VAIO TZ20-Series – fully integrated Wireless WAN (WWAN) capability via its ‘everywair’ technology.

WWAN offers HSDPA connectivity for speeds to 3.6Mbps via mobile networks – and with upgradeable firmware, this will rise to 7.2Mbps. And the VAIO TZ20-Series also offers twin ‘Diversity’ antennas concealed in the lid are used to boost signal quality in marginal areas, with an improvement of up to 20% compared to single antenna systems. For both machines, you just need to add your sim card, with the machine set up to do the rest.

The VAIO SZ6-Series is described as a ‘business-orientated ultra-portable’, weighing just 1.79kg and featuring a 13.3-inch WXGA screen with X-black LCD enhanced contrast and LED backlight technology. It also has two graphics chipsets and a Stamina Mode switch, enabling you to opt for extended battery life of over 5 hours or improved graphics.

The VAIO TZ20-Series has a carbon fibre chassis, ‘Full Flat’ design and a keyboard ‘inspired by the submerged stones of a Japanese water garden’. You can also add to that an 11.1-inch X-black LCD enhanced screen with true 16:9 aspect ratio, LED backlight technology and a battery life of up to 7.5 hours.
