Samsung has unveiled a 1.8-inch drive with 160GB of storage – and that should be good news for the next-generation of media players.

The new drives, which spin at 4200 RPM and are smaller than a business card, will be part of Samsung’s Spinpoint N2 series. According to Samsung, each drive can ‘store more than 40,000 MP3 files or 100 HD quality movies’.

Which all sound marvellous. Now if only it could do something about battery life too, the world would certainly be a better place.
