Sony introduces VRD-MC5 DVDirect Recorder – one-touch movie and photo burning
Sony claims to be making the transfer of home videos and digital photos to DVD even easier with the launch of the VRD-MC5 DVDirect Recorder.
The VRD-MC5 dubs video content from virtually any camcorder source straight to disc. No PC required. And it can burn HD 1080i footage from a High Definition Memory Stick or hard disk Handycam onto AVCHD format HD discs. Just connect any Handycam directly or drop it into its Handycam Station docking cradle. The VRD-MC5 automatically detects input signals – just follow the on-screen prompts and you’re away. You can transfer all your footage, just ‘incremental’ (newly-added) material or selected scenes. And you can create menus, titles and menu backgrounds.
Five recording quality modes allow up to twelve hours of standard definition video or up to 2,000 digital pictures to be stored per 4.7GB DVD+R/+RW disc and 8.5GB DVD+R Double Layer Discs. Up to 95 minutes of High Definition AVCHD video can be stored on 4.7GB DVD+R/+RW discs. Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound can also be recorded, while 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio recording is supported with compatible camcorders.
The VRD-MC5 Compact DVD Recorder will be available throughout Europe from September 2007.
