Sega tells Sony to cut the price of PS3

ps3-unit.jpgWell, not in so many words, exactly, but the implication is clear. Sega’s corporate director Masanao Maeda has come out and stated the obvious: a PS3 price cut will stimulate demand for Sony’s console.

“Since it’s getting difficult to make software availability a differentiating factor, superior marketing and pricing strategy will be the key for Sony,” he says. Recent months have seen several formerly PlayStation-exclusive games go multi-format, such as Devil May Cry, so you can see what he’s getting at.

Then again, calling for a PS3 price cut is hardly shocking, given that ALL console prices come down over time. The real debate is over when Sony will make PS3 cheaper, and by how much…
