Apple’s Mac Mini has carved a box-shaped niche for itself on millions of desks, thanks to its pint-sized dimensions. Now it’s got renewed competition though, in the shape of Japanese firm MiniPC.

The company has unveiled its SA800 PC, which measures 198x198x82mm, but is capable of housing processors from a Celeron up to a Core 2 Duo, and up to 2GB of RAM. However, its neatest feature is the ability to add in new 30mm-high ‘slices’ – peripherals including a DVD player, extra hard disk and so on.

It’s priced between 70,000 and 108,000 Yen (£285-£440) depending on what processor and memory options you specify.
