LocatioNet has today launched amAze – a mapping and navigation application that is free to download for Java-enabled mobile phones, as long as you are not averse to the odd ad.

Actually, the ads are claimed to be non-intrusive – only appearing during loading screens. The tool itself allows you to look up maps, find directions/fastest routes and do local searches when you are out and about, as well giving you access to local retailer details, satellite photos and traffic/weather updates.

And as it is ad-funded, it costs you nothing, which sounds like value to me.
