Vodafone in pole position for European iPhone exclusive

iphone-vodafone.jpgLet’s be honest, I’ll probably be able to rewrite this story several times in the next few weeks, except with a different operator in the headline. Nobody knows who’ll bag the exclusive rights to sell iPhone in Europe yet, so speculation is all we’ve got to hang onto.

Still, it’s good fun, so let’s carry on. Today’s rumour is that Vodafone is front-runner to get the iPhone on this side of the Atlantic, with analysts claiming Apple will announce the deal next month.

“Apple is keen to protect the value of the iPod by ensuring iPhones are not sold with a subsidy,” Credit Suisse has told clients. “Vodafone would appear the front-runner, able to offer a presence in most European markets.”
