Well, maybe. Perhaps. Depending on the right conditions. Hmm, following reports last week that Microsoft’s Zune won’t be out in Europe until 2008, the company has moved swiftly to rebut the claims, without giving any clear indications of when we’ll see the digital music player on this side of the Atlantic.

The original story was fuelled by an interview the company’s Steve Ballmer gave to a German publication, but Microsoft now says he was mistranslated: “He emphasized – as we’ve been saying all along – that focus is important to us and the US has been our focus to date,” says a spokesperson.

“He also reminded those readers that Zune is an investment for the company… a multi-year strategy… but we are currently not making any announcements about future launches.”

Can we be the first to start the ‘Zune not out here until 2009’ rumour rolling then?
