You can tell summer is approaching. Following on from Sanyo’s waterproof Xacti VPC-E1 camcorder comes a waterproof still camera – and it’s a budget one.

The Vivitar 6200W is a six megapixel camera with a two-inch LCD screen and 4x zoom. That’s not bad for a budget model, but this one has that extra little something – it’s waterproof. That means you can take snaps of your underwater adventures in warmer climbs up to a depth of 10 metres. or if you’re not that brave, you can just take some family snaps by the pool, safe in the knowledge that your camera is safe from any water-based accident.

It also features 16MB of internal memory, support for SD cards and a selection of scene modes.

It’s available now, retailing for just under £100.
