Roberts is temporarily ditching the retro boxes and chasing the iPod market instead, with the launch of a digital radio add-on.

According to Roberts, the DAB radio adaptor will be created in association with Frontier Silicon and be the “size of an egg”. And as well as offering you DAB on the move, it will also have FM reception if you happen to be in an area without digital.

Back in August last year, the BBC announced a similar product idea – but as yet, it’s still in the ideas stage. The Roberts version is set for autumn for around £50 – be interesting to see if the BBC pips them to market.
