Phonograph CD Player – old style, new technology

Remember when the CD was cutting edge? It was unbreakable, unscratchable and you could eat your lunch off one. Or so we were told. It’s still hanging in there though – and being used in cutting-edge design like this Phonograph CD Player.

Yes, it’s old meets new (well, fairly new). By old, we mean the looks – the technology is every bit modern. Place the CD on the ‘deck’ and the arm, which is actually a laser pointer, picks up the music, playing back via the trumpet loudspeaker and some add-on speakers if you like.

Yong Jieyu’s design is still a concept right now, but with nostalgia and retro design being big business, it will be no surprise to see it in production.
