RIM announced the BlackBerry Curve yesterday – the company’s lightest and indeed smallest QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone. If that got you excited, you’ll be pleased to know it’s heading to the UK – courtesy of O2 from 8th May 2007.

If you want to know about the full specification, check it out here. But to sum up, it’s everything you would expect from a BlackBerry, with a two megapixel camera, media player and microSD expansion slot. Just that little bit smaller. O2 is launching a range of data tariffs specific to the device, offering access to email, web browsing and instant messaging for a fixed monthly price. Or you can opt for the Pay as You Use tariff if you’re not a heavy user.

“The BlackBerry Curve is a great addition to the range of popular BlackBerry smartphones already available through O2,” said Phil Ledward, Head of Data Marketing at O2. “The enhanced multimedia features, and small and lightweight design of this all-in-one handset will appeal to both the business and individual user.”

The device is priced from free dependent on your choice of contract.
