Nokia 1200 and 1208 with call-time tracking

More cheapies from Nokia – with the 1200 and 1208 – which Nokia is pitching at the “emerging markets”.

According to Nokia, mobile phones are often shared amongst families or entire villages – so the handsets have features to cater for this. The first of these is cal-time tracking, so a time or cost limit can be set on the handset, automatically ending the call when it is reached. The second is a multi-phonebook, so personal phonebooks can be added – up to five per handset. Other features include a flashlight, localised languages, a “teacher mode” for anyone who hasn’t used a mobile phone previously and a seamless keypad to cut down on dirt build-up. The only difference between the two models is the screen – monochrome for the 1200.

The Nokia 1200 will be available in the second quarter of 2007 with an estimated retail price of 35 Euros, while the Nokia 1208 will be available in the third quarter of 2007 with estimated price of 40 Euros.
